Construction Materials Testing Laboratory
Twin Peaks, Inc. (TPI) is a multidisciplinary special inspections firm providing construction materials laboratory testing, construction administration, special inspections, geotechnical investigation, and geo-structural instrumentation services.
Our full-service construction material laboratory conducts testing on vital components of public and private projects for residential, commercial, transportation, and utilities projects of all sizes throughout New York City metropolitan area.
The lab is licensed as a NYC DOB approved Concrete Testing Laboratory (license #000050) and is also accredited by AASHTO Re:Source (formerly CCRL and AMRL) for the testing of concrete, aggregate, soil, asphalt, masonry, and fire resistive materials. TPI maintains a full complement of calibrated/ validated laboratory equipment for these tests.
The laboratory operates under the direct supervision of Laboratory and Technical Director and the oversight of multiple licensed Professional Engineers in the same facility that houses TPI’s administrative office in Long Island City, Queens.
All laboratory testing services strictly comply with ASTM E-329 Standard Specification for Agencies Engaged in Construction Inspections and/or Testing and ASTM C-1077 (Standard Practice for Agencies Testing Concrete and Concrete Aggregates for Use in Construction and Criteria for Testing Agency Evaluation).
TPI’s AASHTO Re:Source Accreditation Certificate attests to our conformance with all requirements of ASTM E-329, C-1077, D-3666, D- 3740 and C-1093 Rigorous annual reviews of TPI’s testing equipment, and quality management system ensure that our laboratory maintains the highest possible standard of quality as established by third-party, objective professional accreditation organizations.
Our competent, highly trained field and laboratory personnel receive extensive training for laboratory work. TPI’s laboratory personnel are certified the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and are trained in all other construction material testing disciplines.

HOW WE WORK?
Construction Materials Testing (CMT) verifies the specific properties and type of materials used in construction projects. It is equally applicable new buildings, large alterations, and redevelopment/ expansion projects.
It is imperative that materials used in construction have the properties required in the building code and project specifications to ensure they behave as intended and fulfill their purpose in the finished structure.
The use of improper materials can decrease the useful life of a structure, lowers its capacity to support the uses it has been designed for, and can compromise the soundness of the structure, endangering the lives of those who occupy it.
Twin peaks Inc provides accurate, complete and reliable test results in the shortest possible time to help clients avoid these negative outcomes and avoid delaying projects progress.
Concrete strength and composition, soil and asphalt classification and compaction, grout, mortar, and masonry block strength, and fireproofing density and adhesion, along with the verification of physical properties of other assorted construction materials, are subject to this scrutiny.
Twin Peaks provides reports electronically and in hard copy to make sure that test results are distributed quickly to clients and their designated representatives.
All test reports are fully reviewed and approved by TPI engineers. We employ the most advanced technology to determine the properties of the materials we test. Our lab services are utilized by private developers and public agencies.
We strictly follow applicable building codes and professional standard on every item we test and specialize in accommodating tight schedules, strict specifications.
Our management philosophy delivers the best the outcome for each project, thereby earning repeat business and referrals and perform each aspect of our services with that in mind.
